Year 3 & Year 4

Welcome to Year 3/4

 

Our current topic is; Raiders & Invaders

 

                                

                                                                      

Our focus text: Beowulf (the oldest surviving English Poem about defeating a monster)   

Our class book :  Viking Boy by Tony Bradman               

                                            

    

Don't forget our Anglo-Saxon man visits year 3 & 4 on Monday 30th April. You are welcome to dress up in Anglo Saxon or Viking costume. See some ideas below.....a tin foil helmet and pillow case with a hole for your head will do just fine!

Weekly Update:

This week (Ending Friday 27th April 2018)

Maths: We have learned about time-digital and analogue , the 12 and 24 hour clock and calcluating time. On Fridays we will focus on learning and practising multiplcation and division facts as well as arithmetic.

English: We have introduced our new talk for writing text, Beowulf.

History: We are finding out why the Anglo Saxons came to Britain and where they came from, ordering events on a timeline and learning about village life.

Science:.We have learnied about the digestive system in our science topic 'Animals including Humans'

ICT: We are learning to code using 'Scratch'

PSHE: We are learning to keep focus this term (amethyst power) and about relationships. We have weekly circle times.

RE: we are learing about leaders and believers in different faiths

PE: We are learning to play cricket and tennis

French:We are learning days of the week, months of the year & birthdays

Music: We are listening and responding to different types of music

Art and DT: We are creating collages of Anglo Saxon longboats and looking at artists who make collages from recycled rucbbish.


Next week : (Ending Friday May 4th 2018)

Maths: We will learn written methods of multipliaction and how to use them to solve problems

English: We will continue to work with our talk for writing text, Beowulf

History: Our Anglo Saxon visitor is coming on Monday!!!

Science: We are learning about teeth and their function in animals and humans

ICT: We will continue to use Scratch to code

PSHE: We will learn about relationships (family and friends) and have our regular circle time

RE: We will continue to learn about leaders and believers in the main religions

PE: We continue tro learn and practice skills in cricket and tennis and Uranus Class will go swimming

Art & DT: We will continue to work on our collages using different materials.

Music: we will listening and respond to different types of music

Please check your child's homework book for their weekly spellings.
